2017 TPA / PTR Road Show

The Tennis Professionals Association (TPA) and Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented a successful 2017 edition of the TPA / PTR Road Show. The Road Show saw over 45 participants in the cities of Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa. Each workshop counted as a full recertification for TPA members and was hosted by Andy Sutton and Scott Mitchell.

Andy Sutton, Tennis Director at Unionville Tennis Club, a TPA certified Club Professional 3 and Coach 3, lead the Components of Quality Standards for Kids Program. Attendees learned about having a caring instructor, ensuring social interaction among participants, keeping participants active, and ensuring optimal challenges for students. Andy has a wide breadth of experience as he has taught and delivered over 40 certification courses, seminar, and workshops across Canada!

Scott Mitchell, former #1 doubles player in the United States and the current Executive Director at the Greater Midland Tennis Center, presented on Adult Programs and how these start with customer service. Topics included: customer experience, setting up effective drills, running large and small groups, and best coaching practices to keep players engaged and excited to play the game of tennis.

The next TPA and PTR event will be the 4th Club Leaders Conference during the Rogers Cup on August 7-8 in Toronto. This conference is for Tennis Directors, Head Professionals and Program Leaders looking to expand their leadership skill set within the tennis industry.
